What’s so special about wagyu?

Wagyu this, wagyu that – what is it that makes this meat so interesting?

Well, the secret to wagyu's mouth-watering flavour and tenderness lies in its signature marbling. These delicate ribbons of fat melt into the meat as it cooks, creating an unbelievably juicy and rich eating experience. This unique characteristic reflects the climate where the cattle are raised, bringing bold tastes influenced by South America and Oceania.

Our XL Wagyu Burgers captures this special quality, offering a delicious twist on the classic burger. This burger is guaranteed to score big on game day, and might just be the only thing both sides can agree on during the match!

No matter which team you’re supporting, this burger is the perfect match for a memorable game day!

Wagyu Burger Recipe

Prep Time: 30 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Overall Time: 1 hour
Serving Size: 2

Ingredients

  • I Vow To Thee My Country XL Wagyu Burgers

  • 2 Burger Buns

  • Mayonnaise

  • Hot Sauce

  • Pickles

  • 1 Shallot

  • Plain Flour

  • Lettuce

  • Streaky Bacon

  • Cheese

  • Vegetable Oil

  • Salt & Pepper

Method

  1. Defrost the burgers in the fridge overnight.

  2. Remove the burgers from the packaging and season with salt & pepper.

  3. Make a spicy burger sauce by combining 2 tbsp mayo, 1 tbsp hot sauce and 2 finely chopped pickles and a splash of pickle juice. Season to taste.

  4. Slice the shallot into rings, add to a bowl and mix with 1 tsp flour. Try to make sure all the rings are separated from each other.

  5. Shallow fry the shallots over a medium/high heat until golden and crisp. This will take around 5 minutes. Remove, place on kitchen roll and season with salt.

  6. Finely shred the lettuce.

  7. Add the bacon to a cold frying pan, bring the heat to medium/high and cook until crisp.

  8. Slice the buns in half and toast over a medium/high heat in the pan you will be frying the burgers in.

  9. Remove the buns, add a small splash of oil and then add the burgers. Cook the burgers over a medium/high heat for 2 minutes each side, then turn down the temperature to medium. Continue to cook the burgers for 10-12 more minutes, flipping every so often.

  10. Now, place the cheese on the burgers and cover the pan with a lid. Reduce the heat to low and cook until the cheese is nicely melted. Remove the burgers and place on a warm plate to rest for a few minutes. The total cook time for these XL Wagyu Burgers is longer than usual burgers to ensure the meat stays juicy.

  11. Assemble the burgers with a nice spoonful of burger sauce, followed by the lettuce, the Wagyu cheeseburger, crispy bacon, sliced pickles, crispy shallots and then the top bun.
